What is TENNderCare?
Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) Services is a program that provides regular medical, mental and dental checkups for your child, up to age 21.

TENNderCare Checkups are Important...and They Are Free!
TENNderCare checkups help:

• Prevent Illness. Regular checkups and proper immunizations help youngsters stay healthy.
• Find Problems Early. Your child may look healthy. But your child could still have a health problem. Regular checkups help find problems early before they become serious.

A TENNderCare Visit Includes:

• Comprehensive Health (Physical and Mental) and Developmental History
• Initial and Interval History
• Developmental/Behavioral Assessment
• Comprehensive Unclothed Physical Exam
• Vision Screening
• Hearing Screening
• Laboratory Tests (includes lead screening)
• Immunizations (shots)
• Health Education/ Anticipatory Guidance

Additional TENNderCare Services Include:

• Follow-up care if a problem is found • Dental checkups every six months starting at age three. Or sooner if a problem is found. A TENNderCare Checkup Is Just a Call Away! For an appointment, just call your child’s primary care practitioner (PCP) or dentist.
  
  Need Help?
• For a ride to your PCP’s or dentist’s office, call your local Community Services Agency listed in the Quick Reference section of your UAHC Member Handbook or Directory.
• For more information about TENNderCare checkups or transportation, call the Customer Service Number listed on the back of your UAHC ID card.
