UAHC’s clinical practice guidelines consider the unique needs of our enrollees and are the basis for our Disease Management and Outreach Programs. The guidelines are based on a combination of review of current medical literature, published consensus guidelines and expert opinion. Clinical practice guidelines, sometimes referred to as practice or treatment protocols, provide systematic recommendations for treating specific health disorders, with the goal of standardizing treatment and increasing the likelihood of good outcomes.
The recommendations for care are suggested as guides for making clinical decisions. Clinicians and their patients must work together to develop individual treatment plans that are tailore to the specific needs and circumstances of each patient. Each practice guideline is evaluated annually to ensure it meets current practice patterns. The practice guidelines are disseminated to UAHC Network providers.
